Mollie Moore is a filmmaker and visual artist from South London now based in New York City. Her work explores identity and belonging through themes of migration, water, queerness and environmental justice, with a focus on non-fiction and experimental film.
Mollie began her practice within theatre and live performance. Bridging theatrical and experimental methodologies with non-fiction storytelling, she seeks to examine memory, belonging and dreams through stories that lie somewhere between reality and imagination.
Her work has screened at Academy qualifying festivals such as Camden International Film Festival, DOC NYC & Big Sky International Film Festival for her directorial debut ‘A Word Away’ which won a ‘Best Director’ award. She has also created work for Fendi, Nowness, System Magazine and screened at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival amongst others.
Most recently, Mollie worked with Sofia Coppola on the documentary ‘Marc by Sofia’ as an editor which premiered at the 82nd Venice Biennale and The MoMA. Additionally, she is directing and producing two original projects: a feature film based in Vieques, Puerto Rico, which is paired with an active environmental conservation initiative and an experimental short examining queer safety which has gained support from Dance on Camera.
